Abstract:
This subject is required for the research stream (Stream B) for the Master of Arts (Ageing and Pastoral Studies). Students work with a supervisor to design, develop and complete a project (15,000-20,000 words) in ageing and pastoral studies. The project includes a major review of relevant literature.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- demonstrate the capacity to work cooperatively with a supervisor in the design, development, and completion of a research project
- make a scholarly contribution to the field of ageing and pastoral studies
- be able to identify and indicate further research needs in the area of ageing and pastoral studies
- demonstrate research and writing skills at an advanced level
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
- Development of appropriate research question(s) for a project in ageing and pastoral studies - Application of appropriate research skills - Literature review - Design of a project using relevant methodology - Writing a proposal - Ethics applications and approval - The research process and report of results - Analysis - Writing the project
