Abstract:
This subject requires extensive qualitative research leading to the production of a major piece of work in accord with the student's career aspirations. The project may be taken in one or two of the following areas: acting, directing, writing, administration, video production or educational drama. A staff supervisor is appointed to each project. Regular and frequent consultation is required, as well as intensive skills development sessions as the project demands. The aim of the subject is to provide the student with the opportunity to create product of professional standard.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- Apply qualitative research methodology to a closely focused area
of theatre or media studies.
- Consult with arts organisers to determine the nature and scope
of a research project.
- Work as part of a team to produce original and innovative work.
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
- Applied qualitative research in the fields of acting, directing, writing, media administration, video production, radio drama or educational drama. - Researching, content and audience. Media audiences and ethnography. Examining cultural patterns and media institutions as a basis for new work. - Intensive skill development and rehearsal in the chosen performance area.
