CSU Discipline Area: Design and Visual Production (DSVIS)

Abstract:
This subject extends students' knowledge of quality animation through theory, research, performance, practice and production. The subject draws upon the principles of traditional animation, acting and experimentation and applies this understanding to modern digital techniques across a diverse range of media. Students can then apply this knowledge through informed critical analysis and gain experience in creating their own production.

Assumed Knowledge:
Upon enrolling in this subject it is expected that the student has completed VFX205 Digital Compositing and VFX206 Special Effects and demonstrated their artistic merit with technical proficiency in producing collaborative works of broadcast quality.
Enrolment restrictions:
Not available to students who have already completed MPI205 or VFX201 .
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- - be able to demonstrate the history, theory and practice of interactive animation
- - be able to demonstrate skills and production sense to create their own real-time animation.
- - be able to demonstrate proficient knowledge of the software and hardware employed in the animation industry
- - be able to demonstrate creative and innovative individual approaches and aesthetics towards their works
- - be able to demonstrate a critical awareness and appreciation of the creative potential of animation in internet, television, movies, graphic design and interactive media.
