Abstract:
This subject introduces students to the fundamentals of audio production from initial studio and field recording to final delivery as a means of story telling.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of story telling
- be able to demonstrate the use of sound design to create a narrative
- be able to demonstrate an understanding of software in the manipulation of sound
- be able to demonstrate an understanding of recording techniques
- be able to demonstrate an understanding of the use of sound in accompanying image
- be able to demonstrate an understanding of the quality needed for sound production for various media.
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
- What is sound? - Principles of sound - Microphones and Recording techniques - Editing sound - Editing sound in relation to picture - Manipulating sound to acheive various desired results to suit specific image genres - Understanding the software and hardware used in sound production - Mixing - Changing sound with effects - Appreciation of the quality of sound design
