Abstract:
This is the core study unit for post-graduate training in veterinary herd and flock consultancy. The Subject will cover a range of areas involved in whole farm consultancy, including the whole farm approach, herd / flock health investigations, working in groups, making consultancy pay, consultancy services and critical reviewing.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to apply a whole farm approach to investigation of farm problems
- be able to identify the interactions which will affect the outcomes for an investigation or problem
- be able to initate a herd/flock investigation as part of a whole farm investigation
- be able to critically review scientific information
- be able to evaluate the various services offered as part of on-farm consultancy and formulate appropriate renumeration packages
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
- Whole farm Management and Consultancy Services understanding farm dynamics;
- Herd / flock health investigations, working in groups, making consultancy pay;
- Critical reviewing of literature, including basic statistics
