Duration: One session

Abstract:

It is recommended that VSC501 is completed at the same time or prior to enrolling in VSC504.

The student will be required to investigate / analyse a problem they have identified within a farming system (either on an individual farm basis, or on a group of farms, or at industry level).The subject involves the student initially selecting a problem to analyse, defining the problem, providing alternate solutions and making recommendations to the producer(s)/industry on the problem.  A written report covering these areas will be produced.

Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

be able to:

Conduct an on-farm investigation of a problem in animal health, productivity or welfare;

Apply the principles of the 'whole farm approach' to the investigation;

Produce a scientifically valid written report justifying recommendations an appropriate for a lay  producer;

Demonstrate advanced knowledge in the field of the investigation.
