Abstract:
This subject allows candidates to develop advanced clinical skills and knowledge in a selected discipline, develop cognitive skills and abilities to synthesise and increase theoretical knowledge ina professional practice.

The subject is restricted to students enrolled in the Doctor of Veterinary Studies
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to demonstrate cognitive skills and intellectual independence and an expert understanding of theoretical knowledge underpinning the selected discipline
- be able to demonstrate advanced cognitive and technical skills to allow integration of theoretical knowledge in professional practice
- be able to develop communication skills integral to specialised professional practice
- Have developed a portfolio of clinical activities undertaken, including case reports, case logs and clinical reflection
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
- The candidate will select the discipline under the guidance of the principal supervisor.
- During the subject the candidates:
- - undertake extensive Workplace Learning in the selected discipline and enterprise for development of advanced clinical skills and knowledge
- - keep a log of all clinical activities undertaken
- - deliver case presentations which demonstrate integration of knowledge
- - produce a written case report
- - contribute to case discussion forums
- - produce a portfolio of all clinical activities undertaken, including case reports, case logs and clinical reflection
Workplace Learning
This subject contains a Compulsory Workplace Learning component of min69 days duration.
The Workplace learning will be undertaken on campus at one enterprises, which is relevant to the selected discipline to allow advanced professional practice training. The duration of the Workplace learning is variable and is negotiated betweent eh candidate and the supervisory team.
