Abstract:

This subject builds on from the research question proposed in WSC501 Research Proposal. This subject is an original independent research study in oenology or viticulture involving review and evaluation of existing data and/or the collection, analysis and interpretation of data. Data may be collected during field studies and/or laboratory experimentation. Students will be required to prepare a dissertation, refereed publication and a seminar as a result of data analysis.

Enrolment is restricted to students enrolled in the Master of Viticulture and Oenology.

Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

- Have developed knowledge in a specialised area of viticulture and/or oenology;
- Have developed skills required to collect and critically analyse scientific data;
- Have developed skills in scientific writing;
- Have developed the skills required for independent and team scholarship and/or research.

Syllabus:

The subject will cover the following topics:

Individual research project associated with a specialised area of study chosen by the student in consultation with the subject coordinator.
