Professional recognition

In developing the program, cognizance has been taken of the recently legislated College of Early Childhood Educators (Early Childhood Educators Act, 2007). CSU is committed to working with the College and the Transitional Council in any ways that are deemed relevant or appropriate to supporting the self-regulation of early childhood education in Ontario.

It is envisaged that the College of Early Childhood Educators will affirm the significance of early childhood education as a profession and ensure a minimum educational base for entry into the profession. While the Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies is not an entry to the profession (this is attained through the Diploma in Early Childhood), it will contribute significantly to ongoing professional development, a further anticipated core function of the College.
