Practice Experience
Particular emphasis is placed on the importance of practical experience and all teaching involves industry standard hardware, software, methods and techniques. Final year students investigate, design and implement a substantial computer application to address a practical real world problem in the chosen area of specialisation.
Integrated Programs with TAFE
An integrated program is offered to students from Albury, Wagga and selected TAFE NSW campuses and involves students studying concurrently at TAFE and also at CSU. The competencies from the Diploma of Information Technology (Networking) and the Certificate IV in Information Technology (Networking) at TAFE have been mapped to the BIT to develop this program. However at this stage students can only complete the Network Engineering major of the BIT. Students commence their studies at TAFE and those meeting the BIT entry requirements will concurrently enrol at CSU in the second session (after completing six months at TAFE).
The course structure for this integrated program is the same as the Bachelor of Information Technology course except students will complete around 50% of their studies at CSU and 50% at TAFE. This enrolment pattern is available internally to Albury and Wagga full-time students and via distance education for students undertaking this program through other selected TAFE campuses.
At the end of the first two years eligible students will be able to graduate from TAFE with a Diploma of Information Technology (Networking) and the Certificate IV in Information Technology (Networking) and then at the successful completion of their third year will graduate with a Bachelor of Information Technology from CSU.
