Full-time 1.0 years (2.0 sessions)

Admission criteria

This course is available to:

1) applicants holding current nursing registration/licence in Australia or its equivalent in the country of residence, to practise as a nurse. There are two entry levels for registered nurses:

a) a hospital-based qualification
b) a tertiary-based qualification.

2) applicants who are have completed a registered nurse qualification but have not retained a license to practice. These applicants should seek advice from the Nurses and Midwives Registration Board regarding potential to meet registration requirements within Australia.

Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds must meet the English language level required by Charles Sturt University.

Credit

Upon admission, students with a hospital based qualification are awarded a standard credit package of 16 subjects (128 points) and students with a tertiary based qualification (i.e., from a college of advanced education or a university, or a comprehensive program from a New Zealand polytechnic) are awarded a standard credit package of 20 subjects (160 points).

Additional credit will be considered on an individual basis for other tertiary study. The maximum amount of credit is 160 points.

Graduation requirement

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 192 points.

Enrolment pattern

Students can enter this course in either session 1 or 2. An individually planned progression model is designed for all students, taking into consideration their nursing experience and future workplace requirements. Students will have the option of a internal and distance education study mode in a part time or full time progression model.

All core subjects are on offer in both internal and distance education study mode in the Bachelor of Nursing degree.

Students will have the options in elective specialised study areas. For example, if a registered nurse desires to re-enter the workforce in a specialised field such as mental health nursing then they will undertake appropriate mental health elective subjects.
