Admission criteria
Bachelor of Veterinary Biology Bachelor of Veterinary Science
Admission into the BVetBiol/BVetSc course at CSU is a four step process.
1. Application through UAC
2. Completion of a questionnaire available at www.csu.edu.au/forms/prospective or by phoning the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences (02) 6933 4479. The questionnaire is to be received by CSU on or before the closing date for UAC.
3. An interview in late November early December.
4. A UAI of at least 90. The cut-off may vary from year to year.
The questionnaire and interview seek to establish the selection criteria. The selection criteria are:
1. High level academic capability.
2. A demonstrated interest in, and commitment to, rural Australia, veterinary science and animal production.
3. An understanding of the unique ethical and practical issues that confront veterinarians concerned with rural practice and production animals.
4. The capacity to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Selection Process Overview:
Questionnaire:
- Assess Questionnaire and rank applicants
Interview:
- Invite to Interview top 80-100 applicants in late November to early December
- Re-rank applicants after interview
When UAI available:
- Remove applicants in list who do not achieve UAI of at least 90
- Invite to interview students in a second round of interviews applicants who receive a UAI of at least 90 who were not invited to interview in the first round as it was estimated they would not have a UAI of 90 or above.
Offer place:
- In preliminary round to non-SL : 10-15 applicants
- In main round offer places to top ranked applicants.
Late applications will not be considered.

In order to be eligible to transfer into the Honours stream at the beginning of year 5 of the double degree program, students will have to obtain grades of credit or above in at least 50% of the subjects in Year 2,3 and 4 years of the combined degree program.

Professional recognition
Tha Australasian Veterinary Boards Council, through the Veterinary Schools accreditation advisory committee, have been informed that the veterinary program at CSU is introducing a problem based learning curriculum into the middle years of the course.
The committee during its April 2006 visit to the school reviewed the proposed changes and recommended the adoption of all of the proposed changes in the interests of improving the student
experience, developing lifelong learning and problem solving skills in the undergraduates and appropriately recognising the and to move to a problem based learning structure in the middle years of the course. These changes have been developed through the Veterinary Program Committee in consultation with the Veterinary Schools Acreditation Advisory Committee.
