AbstractThis subject develops the skills of programming, planning, implementing and assessing classroom drama learning experiences for students with a range of abilities and backgrounds. It builds on the knowledge and understanding introduced in the prerequisite subject EML443, developing an appreciation of the K-12 continuum of learning in the discipline of Drama. It also fosters an appreciation of drama teaching resources.

Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to demonstrate their understanding of current issues in senior secondary or HSC drama education; - be able to plan, implement and assess programs that achieve the outcomes of the NSW senior secondary drama curriculum; - be able to consider individual differences and develop teaching strategies that cater for different learning needs; - be able to use a range of technologies for teaching, learning and assessing in drama; - be able to develop facility with the drama curriculum metalanguage; - be able to use a range of strategies for teaching and assessing Drama curriculum outcomes; - be able to develop classroom stimulus resources; and, - show an appreciation of the K-12 continuum in terms of drama theory and practice.

SyllabusThe subject will cover the following topics: - teaching the concepts of dramatic forms, performance styles, dramatic techniques and theatrical conventions.
- assessing and reporting in the HSC program
- teaching and learning in an inclusive classroom
- resourcing the drama classroom including a range of technologies.
