EPT442 Professional Experience 2 (8)
AbstractThis is an on-site (school-based) practicum of up to 30 days duration (depending upon accreditation requirements). The subject will provide students with an opportunity to consolidate their knowledge and to demonstrate self-sufficiency and independence as a beginning teacher in a secondary context through active participation in the teaching and learning process. The students will be supported and mentored in their efforts to apply their knowledge and skills by experienced curriculum professionals.
Preservice teachers will be required to successfully complete the professional experience program. This subject will allow students to demonstrate their active engagement as new professionals and meet the accreditation requirements of the NSWIT in respect of Graduate Teaching Standards. |

Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:

SyllabusThe subject will cover the following topics:
This subject is predominantly site-based and students will be required to successfully complete the practicum as well as submit their personal evaluation which also addresses all apsects of a professional standards framework, in order to meet all requirements of the subject.
Students will address the following topics through lectures for on-campus students, or through distance education teaching materials for distance education students. This will be complemented by a professional placement of up to 30 days (dependant upon accreditation requirements).
