    Graduate Diploma of Ornithology

    Applicants must have relevant undergraduate degree before entering in to this course

    Graduate Certificate in Ornithology

    Applicants will be expected to hold an undergraduate qualification from a recognised tertiary institution.

    Applicants not holding such a qualification but who have had at least five years of relevant professional experience or experience with a recognised ornithological society will also be considered for admission.

    Credit CSU Credit Policy

    Graduate Diploma of Ornithology

    Students who have completed the Graduate Certificate in Ornithology will be given credit for the 4 subjects (32 Points)completed in that course.

    Graduate Certificate in Ornithology

    Standard CSU Credit policy apply.

    Articulation

    The Graduate Diploma and the Graduate Certificate make up an articulated set of courses and credit is given in each higher level course for the subjects completed in the lower.

    Graduation requirement

    Graduate Diploma of Ornithology

    To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 64 points.

    Graduate Certificate in Ornithology

    To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 32 points.

    Course structure

    The Graduate Certificate in Ornithology requires students to complete four compulsory subjects (32 points).

    BIO433 Ornithological Methods
    BIO431 Avian Systematics
    BIO432 Ecology and Conservation of Birds

    The Graduate Diploma in Ornithology is an additional four subjects (32 points).

    Students undertake two core subjects and choose two others from a restricted subject list.

    Core ornithology subject list includes:
    BIO437 Captive Breeding and Reintroduction of Birds
    BIO439 Behavioural Ecology

    Restricted subject list includes:
    SPA415 Principles of Geographic Information Systems
    GEO513 River Hydrology and Geomorphology
    BIO521 Restoration Ecology
    ENM413 Field Study in Environmental Management
