Normal course duration

Full-time 1.5 years (3.0 sessions)

  • Normal course duration is the effective period of time taken to complete a course when studied Full-time (Full-time Equivalent: FTE). Students are advised to consult the Enrolment Pattern for the actual length of study. Not all courses are offered in Full-time mode.
  • This course may utilise a three session per year teaching calendar. Students should consult the Enrolment Pattern for availability of subjects in Session 3, or contact their Course Coordinator.
  • Admission criteria CSU Admission Policy

    An undergraduate degree from a recognised tertiary institution and/or an equivalent professional qualification and a minimum of three years relevant work experience.

    Students without a tertiary qualification may be admitted to the  Graduate Certificate in Commerce if they can demonstrate they have a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience. Upon successful completion of the Graduate Certificate students may apply for admission to the MBA (Law Enforcement and Security) and receive credit for applicable subjects.

    Credit CSU Credit Policy

    Credit into the Master of Business Administration (Law Enforcement and Security) is awarded based on studies completed at postgraduate or equivalent level. Students may receive credit for up to 50% of the course (six 8 point subjects) for studies completed within the last ten years.

    No credit will be given for subjects completed at the undergraduate level. However, in some circumstances, candidates may be waived from taking particular subjects, e.g. a candidate with a Bachelor degree majoring in Accounting may be waived from undertaking the Core subject MBA504 Accounting and Financial Management. In such instances, an alternative subject is substituted.

    Graduation requirement

    To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 96 points.

    Course structure

    The twelve subject (96 point) MBA includes subjects divided into three groups. The course structure provides students with the ability to tailor their degree to suit their needs and career aspirations.

    Core Subjects: Students need to complete all four Core subjects.

    Restricted Elective Subjects (Group A): Students need to complete four of the ten Group A Restricted Elective subjects.

    Restricted Elective Subjects (Group B - Specialisation Subjects): Students need to complete two of the three Specialisation subjects.

    Enrolment pattern

    Due to the flexibility of the course requirements, there is no prescribed enrolment pattern. Using the following guidelines, students may choose the order in which they undertake subjects.

    MBA508 Business Strategy is a capstone subject and is usually completed towards the end of the program. Students must meet any pre-requisite requirements.
