COM531 Issues, Risk and Crisis Communication (16)

Abstract

This subject examines risk, issues and crisis communication as vital components of the way organisations manage their internal and external environments. While crisis is the most obvious and spectacular outcome, it occurs often because organisations are slow to identify escalating issues or risk situations. The focus of the subject is on developing strong and effective issues management strategies to ensure that crisis is averted and long term stability and reputation are enhanced for the organisation. The use of social media and other online strategies for storytelling, listening and evaluation of communication is examined extensively. Students explore case studies and risk, issues and crisis management models before independently researching and analysing a crisis or issues or risk management case study.
