DBL710 Leadership Portfolio (64)

Abstract

The Leadership Portfolio is a substantial original and significant scholarly collection and analysis of published and unpublished materials on organisational leadership developed, authored and critiqued by the participant and interpreted within the framework of comprehensive theories and research which informs the practice of business leadership at present and into the foreseeable future. The outcome is a report of approximately 30,000 words that demonstrates the contributions of the candidate to the practice of leadership.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- demonstrate a thorough and significant understanding of the relationships of theories and practices which inform an analysis of their own contribution to leadership in large organisation;

- recognise and critically analyse, in the context of the framework of relevant theories and research, their impacts on organisational leadership and organisational success in evolving environments;

- appreciate the relativity of organisational leadership knowledge and practice affecting organisational success and survival in future environments; and

-students will have developed and reported on their original and significant contribution to leadership practice.

Syllabus

The subject will cover the following topics:
- The leadership portfolio concept: defining the process and development of a portfolio framework of significant contributions to corporate leadership informed by theory and research;

- Processes and methods of assessing significant contributions to leadership: selecting and collecting the materials and undertaking analyses; and

- Developing and presenting the portfolio.
