Abstract|
This subject furthers fundamental design knowledge by applying it to disciplines within performance design. Students explore design realisation in a performance setting as well as learning management skills by participating in leadership roles. Focus upon specific performance design disciplines which reflects industry practice and allows students to further explore their desired career path. |

Students should have acquired the knowledge from completion of subjects DES107, DES108 and DES109 before attempting this subject.

Available to students in the Bachelor of Stage and Screen (with specialisations), Bachelor of Creative Arts
and Design (with specialisations), or Bachelor of Communications (with specialisations). May also be
available to other students in an elective format with special approval from the Subject Coordinator.

Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to practise and implement work place health and safety practices to a pass standard;
- be able to implement and reflect upon developed leadership and communication skills;
- be able to use discipline specific terminology in a practice based setting;
- be able to apply discipline specific design principles and processes into projects;
- be able to distinguish the appropriate management skills for particular contexts and apply them to discipline specific projects; and
- be able to engage and collaborate with other performance disciplines.

SyllabusThe subject will cover the following topics:
- WH&S and risk management;
- script analysis for design;
- crew management;
- stage management;
- set and prop construction and art finishing;
- costume construction and art finishing; and
- technical lighting.
