EEL106 Creating Learning Experiences (8)
Abstract|
In this subject students will develop knowledge and understanding of how to create learning experiences to meet children’s learning needs and curriculum requirements using research based pedagogical approaches and strategies which are contextually appropriate.They will explore different pedagogical approaches and identify how these partially explain learning within diverse formal and informal learning contexts. Students will participate in learning experiences that will model a range of research based pedagogical strategies. Students will design, implement and evaluate three sequences of learning experiences for an identified group of learners. Each sequence will reflect a different approach and include strategies appropriate for the approach and context. |

Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to deconstruct examples of lessons employing the backward design, direct/explicit teaching and problem based approaches to identify and explain the purpose of their key components;
- be able to reflect on their teaching and analyse what pedagogical approaches they employed and the effects on learning and learners;
- be able to evaluate their planning and teaching and explain how this could be improved in relation to the three key pedagogical approaches and associated pedagogical strategies;
- be able to integrate the three target pedagogical strategies into their lesson/learning experiences plans.
- be able to apply the backward design, explicit teaching and problem based learning pedagogical approaches when designing sequences of lessons/learning experiences;
