EER505 Researching to Inform Practice (8)
Abstract|
Educational contexts are many and varied, but core aspects in creating successful communities of learners are the processes, practices, and products of engaging in an in-depth investigation in terms of what works, what does not, what is exerting influence on context, processes, and outcomes, what and how might change be developed. In turn, and underpinning all of these, are questions as to ‘who’ are the key personnel, who enacts and who receives change, and what are the consequences for context and personnel. To address these various foci, either together, or in selected aspects, involves the use of appropriate research skills and strategies in the conduct of an appropriate enquiry. This subject provides the context wherein such investigations may proceed. |

Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
Identify an appropriate aspect of practice suitable for investigation.
Design an appropriate proposal applicable to issue and context to provide a basis for the investigation, in terms of rationale, methodology, literature, and ethics.
Present a report of their investigation, appropriate to the study issue and context, and establish the relationship between data and informing practice.

designing a research proposal based on an issue featuring a rationale, methodology, literature , and ethics section

writing a report appropriate to the issue selected
The investigation will be selected and developed in consultation with the relevant staff member and will relate to the student's specialist context and area of study. |
