EHR403 Pathophysiology of Chronic Conditions (16)

Abstract

This subject examines targeted cardiopulmonary, metabolic, musculoskeletal and neurological conditions, as well as specific types of mental illnesses and cancers . Emphasis will be placed on examining the pathogenesis and pathophysiological processes involved, clinical manifestations, risk factors, secondary co-morbidities, and clinical assessment. The application of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions in the management of these conditions will also be investigated.

  • identify common secondary co-morbidities associated with the chronic health conditions examined in this subject;
  • outline routine clinical assessments used to evaluate and/or monitor health status in persons with the chronic health conditions examined in this subject;
  • stratify the results obtained from routine clinical assessments to determine health risk in persons with the chronic health conditions examined in this subject;
  • describe the mode of action of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions used to manage the chronic health conditions examined in this subject and determine their effects on health status.
