EMA450 The Arts (8)

Abstract

This subject seeks to develop students' knowledge and skills of the role the Arts play in providing a balanced education for children. Students will develop appropriate strategies to effectively teach visual arts, music, dance and drama curricula in Ontario schools. The subject describes how children build upon their knowledge in the Arts and challenges students to make the arts meaningful and connected across a variety of subject areas. Students are encouraged to think about the way children construct understanding and consequently how they may be assessed and taught. The subject focuses on the arts elements that children are generally expected to acquire in the K-6 school curriculum.
