EMR450 Health and Physical Education (8)

Abstract

This subject is designed to equip students with the skills, knowledge and dispositions to become effective classroom practitioners in the teaching of Health and Physical Education. There is an emphasis on connecting the Ontario Health and Physical Education Curriculum to a wider social and long-term health and well-being as being inclusive of physical, cognitive/mental, social and emotional well-being. Being literate in physical and health education in today's society involves critical thinking, the ability to make informed decisions, to synthesize information and to communicate effectively. The subject will connect general educational theories and provide students with practical ideas and tools for teaching health and physical education in a variety of learning environments.
