EMS406 Science and Technology Curriculum Studies (8)

Abstract

In this subject, students work collaboratively in a professional project-based learning environment to operationalise the components of PCK (CoRes and PaPERs) in designing and developing a Science &Technology Unit of Work for pupils in Years K-6 that employs investigative pedagogies. They draw onScience 102 as a model to acquire appropriate content knowledge and identify scientific misconceptions. Students will demonstrate knowledge of learning theory, lesson and unit design and assessment of, andfor, learning to develop the sequence of learning activities that use pedagogies afforded by scientific andeducational technologies. Students learn how to incorporate content (discipline and curriculum),Pedagogical Content Knowledge and Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge, other KLAs, the5Es Learning Cycle and a variety of instructional strategies into a Unit of Work spanning one term ofschooling.
