Abstract

The Practicum Seminar subject occurs in an elementary education setting and is supported and extended through interactions with faculty and peers. The practicum experience allows candidates to develop observational skills and to demonstrate knowledge, skills and disposition development related to other subjects. Candidates will develop a practical understanding of how to create and sustain an inclusive learning environment and be engaged in applying the components of effective lesson planning. Candidates will participate in reflective dialogue with their teacher mentor and CSU staff who will provide feedback to affirm strengths and assist in uncovering opportunities for improvement in the candidate’s teaching practice. With the support of their teacher mentor, candidates will actively plan to use strategies that will support their growth in identified areas.
