ERT704 Developing a Research Proposal (16)

Abstract

This subject has been developed to provide structure for completion of the research proposal within a set time limit. It is designed to support students through the preparation and presentation of their formal research proposal. The proposal will build on work commenced in EER700 and EER701 to become a justification for the set of research studies that will form the research. It will be framed theoretically and in relation to professional need.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- have developed their project commenced in EER700 into a focussed research proposal
- have developed their literature review commenced in EER701 into a literature review which is integrated in their research proposal
- have prepared a research proposal for presentation at a formal proposal defence colloquium

Syllabus

The subject will cover the following topics:
- proposal development - methodology selection and delimitation - selecting analytic tools - strategies for successful report writing - specific content in the subject will be designed to meet the needs of particular study cohorts identified in each intake of students
