Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be familiar with past and current issues influencing the inclusion of individuals with disabilities;
- introduce strategies and adaptations that can be implemented within school, work and community settings that promote the inclusive environments for individuals with disabilities;
- develop processes which enable the creation of novel solutions to novel circumstances;
- apply problem solving processes to develop appropriate strategies and adaptation for specific settings;
- use action research as a base for reflective practice in planning, implementing and evaluating inclusive practices. |

SyllabusThe subject will cover the following topics:
- Access and use literature on inclusive studies to examine social, moral, cultural, legal, educational and political influences on the development of inclusive practices.
- Examine the research-based literature to evaluate the efficacy of various strategies and approaches in promoting inclusive practices.
- Learning about and applying problem-solving processes that facilitate inclusive practices in collaborative contexts.
- Learning about action research and applying its principles to an actual case of inclusion. |
