Abstract

The Inclusive Education Project is the capstone experience in the Masters Degree (project strand) course.
The subject will draw on contemporary research and practice in program evaluation and build each student's capacity in all facets of the design, implementation and reporting of a program evaluation. The product for this subject is an evaluation of a program plan implemented in the candidate's
inclusive setting. The evaluation can be employed to further the setting’s capacity and commitment to
the goals of inclusive education.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- clarify the scope of an Inclusive Education Project - satisfy the minimal risk ethics requirements - clarify the focus of the study related to the work completed throughout the course; - specify the focus, methodology and evaluation design of the study; - identify the key steps in conducting a literature review in a focus area; - analyse the literature and produce a draft review and completed review; -select and write a description of the evaluation model most appropriate for their focus; - design an implementation timeline; - implement a program that is the subject of the evaluation; - analyse and report on the data; and - complete the evaluation report.
 

Syllabus

The subject will cover the following topics:
- The scope of an Inclusive Education Project - Review course learning; - The ethical implementation of a program evaluation. - The conduct of a literature review in inclusive education. - The selection of a program evaluation model for evaluating inclusive practice. - Program evaluation design. - The design of an intervention for the inclusive school including scaling up classroom practice to the setting - Considerations for implementation, analysis and interpretation of results - Developing an evaluation report.
