HLT710 Clinical Issues in Health (8)

Abstract

This subject aims to provide students with the opportunity to study contemporary issues in health within their field of practice and area of specialisation, in order to more deeply understand the influences which impact on health service delivery, the context of practice, and the scope of health professionals' practice. This subject will build on the existing professional expertise of candidates and facilitate their development of expert-level knowledge of key current issues in health, which will strongly inform the research component of the Doctor of Health Science degree.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • Be able to synthesise clear and concise discussion on contemporary issues which affect professional health practice;
  • Be able to demonstrate advanced critical skills in analysing literature concerned with contemporary health issues;
  • Utilise research skills to source and use information to broaden and deepen understanding of issues which impact on professional practice and service delivery;
  • Be able to clearly articulate contemporary issues in health practice in the context of the current literature;
  • Be able to demonstrate advanced research, analytical, critical, reflection and communication skills through written and verbal modes

  • Ethics in health
  • Extended roles of professionals in health
  • Other clinical issues in health
  • The incorporation of research and evidence-based practice to contemporary health issues
