Abstract

This subject critically examines contemporary issues and developments in the field of training and development in Australia. Particular emphasis is on the national training system, workplace learning, skills and human resource development.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

- be able to explain the changing meaning of skill and discuss some of the implications of the changing meaning;
- be able to assess the debates with regard to the importance of human resource development for increasing individual employability, firm productivity and national competitiveness.
