Abstract
This subject focuses on the development of students' writing skills for study in university subjects. This subject will help students to develop their research, reading, note taking and writing skills. They will participate in CSU's interactive online learning community and enhance their ability as a university student. |

Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:

• knowledge of assessment types including essays, reports, PowerPoint presentations, reflective journals
• the ability to link assessment to marking criteria and summarise information including the use of mind maps, brainstorming, concept maps and Venn diagrams
• skills in reading and note taking and paraphrasing, referencing and the use of referencing styles
• understanding of academic integrity, ethics and strategies for avoiding plagiarism
• the ability to utilise academic writing skills including defining a question, developing an introduction body & conclusion.
• Correct usage of grammar, sentence and paragraph construction, proof reading and editing techniques.
