ITC321 Introduction to ITIL Practices (8)

Abstract

This subject provides grounding in the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and the underlying frameworks and standards.

Students will be introduced to the concept of IT Service Management (ITSM) as a practice and the ITIL Service Life Cycle. The ITIL processes, functions, roles and activities and how they integrate to support the needs of business.

Key principles, models and terminology associated with the five key areas: Service Strategy, Service Design, Service Transition, Service Operation and Continual Service Improvement; of ITIL will be explained as will the relevance of the Service Management Processes to the Service Life Cycle.

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

* be able to identify and discuss the key principles and models of Service Strategy

* be able to demonstrate understanding and explain the issues and concepts related to Service Operation
* be able to identify and describe the roles and responsibilities relevant to Service Design
* be able to rationalise the need and processes for Continual Service Improvement
