ITC348 Inside Active Directory (8)

Abstract

The aim of this subject is to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to perform advanced administration tasks in a network operating system environment, specifically in a Microsoft Windows network. The subject covers administrative tasks to manage large number of users and computers. It also provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to implement and administer the Windows directory services infrastructure in an enterprise environment. It describes key decision points for naming, delegation of authority, and domain designs. The implementation platform will be Microsoft Windows Server 2003 network.

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- set up and administer domain user accounts;
- use windows administration tools and methods to perform administrative tasks;
- describe how to implement group policy to configure computers and user environments in a windows network;
- configure and control user environments;
- manage directory replication;
- create and manage domains, trees and forests;
- delegate administrative control;
- manage and restore the active directory database; and
- implement an active directory infrastructure based on a given business scenario.

- introduction to active directory;
- implementing DNS to support active directory;
- creating a windows domain;
- setting up and administering users and groups;
- publishing resources;
- delegating administrative control;
- implementing group policy;
- using group policy to manage user environments and software;
- creating and managing trees and forests;
- managing replication and operations masters;
- managing the active directory database;
- implementing an active directory infrastructure.
