ITI576 Industry Challenge - Sun (8)

Abstract

The goal of this subject is to provide students with the opportunity to work on a case study that is relevant to their professional development. It is carried out within the framework of the Sun Certified Programmer (SCP) and Sun Certified Developer (SCD) industry certifications and gives students to apply the skills and knowledge that they gained while completing their industry studies.
Students will complete a Case Study working with other students as part of a 'virtual team' and will be required to research possible solutions to technical issues and problems and then design and then develop comprehensive solutions.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- Identify technical issues and problems;
- Research potential solutions;
- Create the conceptual design for a business solution;
- Create the logical design for a business solution;
- Create the physical design for a business solution;
- Develop a working prototype of the solution that the team has developed;
- Justify solutions on the basis of costs, risk and quantifiable business improvement;
- Develop an implementation plan for the solution;
- Work as a member of a virtual team
