LAW395 Electronic Commerce & The Law (8)

Abstract

This subject examines the regulation of commercial conduct across the Internet. Key legal issues concerning electronic commerce are addressed. These include copyright, privacy, methods of payment, consumer protection, taxation, domain names and dispute resolution. The role of government in regulating online commercial conduct is critically analysed. Throughout this subject consideration is given to the effectiveness of existing laws in the digital environment and
contemporary issues are explored.

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

- be able to evaluate the role of government in regulating commercial conduct across the Net;
- be able to identify the major legal issues when conducting business online;
- be able to assess the role of international legal regulation;
- be able to offer and explain strategies for the management of digital property.
