MBA552 Doing Business in China (8)

Abstract

This subject involves embarking on a study to China to undertake an intensive course in Chinese business offered in conjunction with the Bern University of Applied Sciences in Bern Switzerland. The study tour includes visits to major Chinese businesses located predominently in Shanghai plus intensive workshops with European students. Entry to this subject is via application to the Sub Dean MBA.

Enrolment restrictions

Enrolment in this subject is by application to an acceptance by the Sub Dean MBA. The subject is designed for students undertaking the MBA or equivalent courses or having equivalent educational and work experience qualifications to MBA students.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to discuss the approach to business in China;
- be able to discuss the cultural, legal, economic, financial and other dimensions of business in China;
- be able to demonstrate skills in dealing with persons in a Chinese environment

Chinese institutions and doing business in China
State companies in China
Setting up businesses in China
Chinese financial markets
Macroeconomic and business challenges in China
Supply chain management in China
China: challenges and opportunities

Residential School

This subject contains a compulsory 14 day residential school. This subject requires a compulsory tour to china. Students will be required to meet expenses above that required for a standard subject.
