MGT394 Developing Cross Cultural Capabilities (16)

Abstract

The subject addresses a wide range of cross cultural management practices and strategies and is designed to provide students with a practical overview of the processes and issues, which they must understand to effectively manage in an international firm.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
have an understanding of the major theories and concepts underlying cross-cultural management;
be able to analyse and synthesise different theories and concepts and critically evaluate their usefulness in addressing the problems of managing people from different cultures;
improve their ability to work in, manage and lead culturally diverse groups and teams;
develop a continuing interest in identifying and applying best practice change management;
develop an appreciation of the importance of key international business principles, such as organisational diversity and knowledge management to ensure their cross cultural management practices to meet the challenges of doing business internationally;
describe and explain the differences between culturally renewing and culturally diminishing management practices; and
exhibit heightened personal and national responsibility for intercultural understanding.
