Abstract
This subject aims to introduce students to the history and leading theories in the field of quality management. It explores the functions and processes of quality management and encourages students to critically reflect on quality management practice in particular contexts. We look at: what is quality; how quality can be managed; and explore what are the main principles, methods and tools of quality management in contemporary organisations. |

Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to compare and contrast theories, techniques and tools used in Quality Management;
- be able to analyse the relationship between the organisation and the individual, and describe how this impacts Quality Management;
- be able to discuss the applications of Quality Management techniques, in particular organisations;
- be able to evaluate the implementation of Quality Management systems; and
- be able to devise appropriate solutions for Quality Management implementation issues in particular organisations.
