MGT595 Embedding Change Leadership (8)

Abstract

This subject analyses the role of leadership in creating and implementing change as a core process of organisational activities affecting the pursuit of the organisation's vision including exploration of the different types of change with which organisational leadership must deal. In this context, the subject also examines cross-cultural organisational and societal change that leadership needs to address including structural and behavioural transformation and their organisational impacts and the evolution of societal values and its impacts on organisations.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- Have developed an appreciation and understanding of the role of leadership in organisational change and addressing the impacts of change
- Be capable of forecasting and analysing organisational change for its plausible impacts and in developing strategies to accommodate change positively
- Be able to demonstrate how leadership can influence organisations to undergo strategic change

- The concept of organisational and societal change and differing perspectives on change
- Forms of organisational change
- Impacts of change on organisations
- The roles of leadership in planned and unplanned change
- Implementing planned internal organisational changes
- Trans-national leadership and intra and inter organisational changes
- Developing an organisational capacity for change
- Embedding leadership as a change agents
