AbstractCandidates enrolled in a research Masters course in the mathematical sciences are required to prepare a thesis proposal, conduct approved research under supervision, and present the results of their research for examination in an academically conventional form approved by the Faculty and the University's Board of Graduate Studies. |

Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
have conducted research on a theoretical or applied problem in mathematics; have written up the results of the investigation as a thesis.

SyllabusThe subject will cover the following topics: - prepare a thesis proposal, outlining the proposed research and the methodology proposed, together with a preliminary review of literature and a time schedule for completion;
- conduct research based on the approved thesis proposal, working with supervisor/s approved by the University;
- pursue either a program of research relevant to the chosen specialisation studies resulting in a thesis that is a distinct contribution to knowledge.
- present research findings in an approved thesis form for examination by examiners approved by the University. |
