SSS008 Mathematics for the Sciences (4)

Abstract

This subject will review foundation skills in mathematics such as calculator skills, unit conversions using the unit factor method, mathematical operations of using algebra, decimal, fractions, percentages, area, volume, trigonometry, and graphing techniques. The subject is particularly relevant to those students studying science and agriculture subjects for which some knowledge of mathematics is required.

Syllabus

The subject will cover the following topics:
the scientific calculator; unit conversions; mathematical operations of using algebra, decimal fractions and percentages; calculation of area, volume and work rates using formulae and raw data; trigonometry; concepts of functions and graphs.
