Abstract

This subject facilitates advanced competence in the study of the Greek New Testament. It comprises a more detailed and in-depth study of New Testament Greek grammar and syntax, translation from the Greek New Testament and other Koine Greek literature, and exegesis of Greek texts.

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

  • be able to demonstrate advanced facility with Greek vocabulary and grammar

  • be able to demonstrate the ability to use research tools in New Testament studies

Syllabus

The subject will cover the following topics:
  • advanced Greek grammar and syntax
  • translation of substantial portions of Greek text
  • advanced exegesis of Koine Greek texts
  • issues relating to Greek translation and exegesis such as grammar, syntax, special idioms and semantics
