AbstractAction research in church leadership focussed on the local congregation is the central concern of this subject. A wide variety of leadership options are examined, together with the role of vision and mission statements; the historic and contemporary roles of the clergy and laity (the clerical paradigm); the traditional models of the Church (the Christendom paradigm); the multicultural context of the post -1950 church; and, the role of the church as a competing voluntary association in Australian society. |

Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to stimulate new models of Australian church leadership by drawing on biblical/theological principles and contemporary management theory as applied to voluntary not-for-profit groups; - be able to apply learning in the context of the local church and wider Christian ministry, both lay and ordained; - be able to assist students to understand concepts such as paradigm, vision, mission, goal-setting, spirituality, performance appraisal, formative and program evaluation. |

- Principles of leadership in the Christian tradition.
- Leadership and authority in the Christian tradition.
- Vision, Mission and Spirituality for leaders.
- The role of the laity in the Australian Church.
- The Church as a volunteer organisation.

- Leadership and teamwork.
- Congregational and group performance review processes

- Congregational analysis skills
- Planning and implementing a fieldwork exercise in Church Leadership. |
