Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
-exercise critical and reflective judgement
-express critical and reflective judgement through essay writing and oral critiquing skills
-demonstrate the ability to apply the evaluative and critical skills gained in specific coursework subjects such as ART501 , ART502, and VPA706
-demonstrate their understanding and skills in practical criticism;
show an understanding of the intention of their work and its reception
-demonstrate an understanding of the use of sources
critically reflect on their own work
-place their own work in a wider critical context.

-creative arts practice as research
-reflection on arts practice
-criticism of arts practice
-formal description
-evaluating the stimulus
-analysing the sources
-evaluating the purpose
-analysing the context
-evaluating the work in relation to world-wide practice
-assess the work in relation to contemporary critical theory
-assessing the quality of the work
-writing and oral presentation skills.

Residential School| This subject contains a compulsory 3 day residential school.
The purpose of the Residential School is to provide an opportunity for students to present work in progress on their major project for discussion, and to participate in seminars dealing with the course work, including VPA707/717 Reflection on Practice.
