Abstract
The aim of this subject is for advancement of clinical skills and knowledge in the selected discipline or related disciplines through specialised training and exposure to professional clinical practice either on-campus or externally. Candidates will develop cognitive skills that demonstrate expert understanding of knowledge underpinning the discipline(s) and undertake critical reflection of that theory and practice. |

Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- Be able to demonstrate intellectual independence through exposure to clinical practice during placement on campus or externally and application of advanced knowledge and skills in the selected discipline(s)
- Be able to develop advanced cognitive skills to demonstrate expert understanding of theoretical knowledge underpinning the discipline, and demonstrate practical clinical skills.
- Be able to reflect critically on theory and professional practice and evaluate common practices

SyllabusThe subject will cover the following topics:
- This subject will involve identification of goals and learning objectives of the professional placement and scholarly preparation.
- The subject will involve placement in an enterprise on or off campus for at least 3 weeks. During this period, the student gains exposure to professional clinical practice, either in the nominated primary discipline or a related discipline. During the placement, the students are required to document all exposures in written log-books, which are submitted at the end of the subject for marking. In addition, students deliver a presentation of their experiences to enable demonstration of accruement of new knowledge at the fore-front of the discipline.

Work Place LearningThis subject contains a Compulsory Workplace Learning component of 15 days duration.
In this subject, WPL involves placement in industry either on or off campus in an enterprise which is relevant to the nominated discipline.
