Abstract|
The subject provides candidates with training in research methods and experimental design. Candidates select a clinical research question for the clinical research project of the Doctor of Veterinary Studies and will develop a proposal and plan for the project. A literature review and critical analysis of the research question and methods available is undertaken prior to presentation of the research proposal and plan. Candidates obtain all the necessary approvals for the project. |

SyllabusThe subject will cover the following topics:
- Students select a research topic and question and develop a plan for a research project, under the guidance of the supervisor(s), which is relevant to the nominated discipline. Students are required to submit at least one progress report to the supervisor(s) during the program and deliver one seminar on their research project to an audience. The progress report will allow the identification of areas of difficulty which may lead to reduced progress throughout the subject enabling revision of the project and plan where appropriate in consultation with the supervisor(s). Assessment items are a literature review relevant to the research project and delivery of a presentation of the research project.

Work Place Learning| This subject contains a Compulsory Workplace Learning component of 50 days duration.
Will be undertaken in an on-campus enterprise which is relevant to the selected discipline and research project. The duration of the Workplace Learning is variable over one session, negotiated between the candidate and supervisor(s)
