WEL503 Social Policy Formulation, Implementation and Evaluation (16)

Abstract

A study of policy processes as they affect social and welfare policy. Political, economic and administrative aspects of the process are examined as are needs analysis, community consultation, social indicator data and principles and methods of policy evaluation.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
Understand the policy processes of formulation, implementation and evaluation as these bear on social policy;
Be able to evaluate policy processes;
Be able to use techniques of social indicator analysis, needs analysis and community consultation;
Be able to take part independently in the social policy process.

Residential School

This subject contains a compulsory 2 day residential school.
