Bachelor of Education (Birth to Five Years)
To be admitted to the Bachelor of Eduation (Birth to Five Years) students must hold one of the following qualifications:
- Diploma of Children’s Services
- Bachelor of Teaching (Birth to Five Years)
- Three year Bachelor of Early Childhood Teaching qualification from a recognised university
or an equivalent qualification deemed appropriate by the Faculty of Education.
Special admission is available to:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants
- Regional entry
- Special consideration/educational disadvantage
Credit CSU Credit Policy
Bachelor of Education (Birth to Five Years)
The credit arrangements have been organised as follows:
* Students who have completed the Diploma of Children’s Services (AQF 5) through a Registered Training Organisation within the past 10 years will be granted credit of 128 points in recognition of prior study. This entry level credit is represented as EDU14C Early Childhood Studies Credit .
* Students who enrol in the Bachelor of Education (Birth to Five Years) program with a Bachelor of Early Childhood Teaching qualification from another University or tertiary institution will be granted entry level credit of 192 points in recognition of prior study. This entry level credit is represented as EDU15C Early Childhood Studies Credit.
Articulation
The Bachelor [exit point only] and the Bachelor make up an articulated set of courses and credit is given in each higher level course for the subjects completed in the lower.
Graduation requirement
Bachelor of Teaching (Birth to Five Years) [exit point only]
To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 208 points.
Bachelor of Education (Birth to Five Years)
To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 256 points.
Course structure
The Bachelor of Education (Birth to Five Years) consists of the ten (10) subjects required for the Bachelor of Teaching (Birth to Five Years) exit point, plus an additional six (6) subjects (two (2) of which are core and four (4) electives).
The order of subject selection is largely flexible, with the only requirement being that students complete the relevant curriculum subjects before undertaking professional placement subjects.
Notes:
• Students who have completed a Diploma of Children's Services will receive a standard entry level credit package of 128 points, represented as EDU14C Early Childhood Studies, based on prior qualifications.
• Students who enter the Bachelor of Education (Birth to Five Years) program following completion of the Bachelor of Teaching (Birth to Five Years) or equivalent at another University will be required to complete 8 of the subjects listed below. All such students receive a standard entry level credit package of 192 points, represented as EDU15C Early Childhood Studies, based on prior qualifications.
