The Associate Degree in Policing Practice is an entry course to the NSW Police Force. The program integrates field-based education with classroom and distance education study and is focused on the practical application of the applied skills necessary for the modern policing professional. Field placement undertaken as a Probationary Constable with the NSW Police Force forms an integral part of the Associate Degree and gives an insight into the practical application of the theoretical foundations of the course.

Full-time 2.0 years (4.0 sessions)

Part-time 4.0 years (8.0 sessions)

Admission criteria

CSU Admission Policy

Charles Sturt University (CSU) undertakes Stage 1 of the recruitment process on behalf of the NSW Police Force. CSU uses Academic Selection Criteria to assess applicants for entry into the Associate Degree in Policing Practice (ADPP) and applies to both applicants wishing to study full-time on campus and those choosing to study by distance education.
Academic eligibility is only one component contributing to an applicant’s progression into the eligibility pool,  other components are assessed through the NSW Police Force recruitment process. The results in these components may determine how quickly an applicant gains admission to the course, as offers into the Associate Degree in Policing Practice will be made to the most competitive applicants.
To be academically eligible an applicant must have successfully completed any one of the following criteria:
• Tertiary studies - a minimum of two subjects (pass or above)
• AQF - a minimum of Certificate III
• Tertiary Preparation Certificate - completed
• ATAR = 66
• Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) = 149
• Military Service Personnel - rank of Corporal or above
• CSU's Darrambal program
• IPROWD.
Application for academic eligibility is made by completing the CSU admissions online application form.

Graduation requirements

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 128 points.
